People who go on a juice fast are warned that they will have a lot of weight loss really fast & that they should not be alarmed. It is perfectly normal to see people drop 30-40 pounds in a 30 day juice fast! This may be the solution for you, if you are serious and committed to the idea of losing weight.

What is a juice fast?
A juice fast is a fast. You need to consume nothing else other than juices for the entire time you are on the fast. A typical fast may last one week to a month even. You can consume as much juice as you want to. In fact, it is recommend that you consume a whole lot of juice. You keep the body satisfied and are never hungry as such.

What kind of juices must be consumed?
Juices of fruits and vegetables. Nothing processed or bought off-the-shelf will do. You just need to use a juicer and cut-up fruits and vegetables and make a concentrate. Dilute them in an equal amount of water and consume it.

Here are some of the fruits and vegetables that are suggested: parsley, kale, beet greens, chard, spinach, dandelion leaf, broccoli, cabbage, carrots, beats, sweat potatoes, dark grapes, apples, citrus, yucca root, funnel, spearmint, peppermint, basil, ginger, garlic, green onion, chilly, pepper, fresh turmeric root (small amounts).
Since most of these, one their own, would be rater un-pleasant to have, you could try mixing the flavors and making more appetizing juices.

But, how does juice fasting work?
All natural fruits and vegetables have very few calories relative to their size. This means, you can consume a whole lot of them and still keep your calorie intake rather low. So, you can have how much ever juice you want. Stay hydrated and satisfied and not-hungry and still not consume too many calories. And you surely know that weight loss is achieved only if you consume less calories and burn more. It should be an easy task for one to restrict their calorie intake to the desired level on a juice diet.

Besides this, there is another very good side-effect of being on a juice diet. You see, natural fruits and vegetables are rich in "digestive enzymes". Cooked or processed food, just do not have these. (This is because, the process of cooking, hating above 118 degrees, destroys digestive enzymes.) Digestive enzymes, help your body break down food and use the food you consume much more efficiently. In the absence of theses "digestive enzymes", the body starts to store the food we eat and this leads to obesity.
